Pluma OS

A workspace for freelancers and small studios: projects, clients, time and invoices in one place.

The business

Pluma OS puts a working week in one place: projects and their tasks, clients and the people behind them, the time tracked against the work, and the invoices that follow it. Its line is "Your work, finally in one place."

It is Mister Rhino's own product, a web app hosted in the EU. A new workspace starts with a 14-day trial and no card, and signing in takes a Google or Apple account, or a link sent by email.

The work

  • The day, on one screen
  • Projects, by status
  • Everything from the keyboard
  • Working hours
  • Contacts, with what the work needs
  • Dark as well as light

The approach

  1. The day starts on one screen

Home answers the questions a morning starts with: what is running, what is due, how many hours have gone in, and what is still unpaid. Six numbers, the recent projects and four quick actions, so the first click of the day is already work.

The home screen: six numbers for the week, recent projects, tasks due and quick actions
  2. Everything is one keystroke away

A command menu opens over any screen: start a timer, add a lead, go to the calendar, or open the archive. Someone who lives in the app should never have to hunt through a sidebar for the thing they do ten times a day.

The command menu open over the workspace, from starting a timer to opening the archive
  3. Signing in without a password

A link by email, or a Google or Apple account, with a password as the fallback rather than the default. The trial needs no card, and the sign-in screen says so, along with where the data lives.

The sign-in screen: Google, Apple or a link by email, beside the product's promise
  4. A contact carries what the work needs

A person is more than a name and an email: their organisation, their role, whether they are a client, a team member or a supplier, their rate, and whether they have given consent to be contacted. One table, or cards, sorted the way the week needs.

The contacts table with each person's organisation, role, rate and consent
